Kyle Roberts of NewsOK.com shot this video of “War of the Supermen” writers James Robinson and Sterling Gates at this weekend’s Speeding Bullet Comics appearance.

Thanks to the hundreds of people who turned out Saturday for James Robinson and Sterling Gates’ appearance at Speeding Bullet! Fans heard behind-the-scenes info about “War of the Supermen,” as the writers debriefed fans on the 100-minute war. Then, a constant line of people met, talked with, and got books signed by the pair of writers.

Robinson also did a video interview with the Oklahoma History Center, that will be added to the section on Archie Goodwin in the Uncanny Adventures of Okie Cartoonists at a later date.

Speaking of the History Center, Gates and Speeding Bullet’s own Matthew Price spoke in front of dozens of fans at the History Center on Saturday morning about Gates’ career, writing methods and favorite comics.

This month, Speeding Bullet Comics celebrates its 12th anniversary. And we’ve invited some “Super” writers to help us celebrate!

James Robinson & Sterling Gates, writers of the action-packed Superman comic books “Last Stand of New Krypton” and “War of the Supermen” will debrief the war with fans at 3 p.m. Sat., June 12, 2010, at Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N Porter Ave., in Norman.

James has been writing comics for over 20 years — including 80+ issues of Starman, called “the best written superhero in comics” by Entertainment Weekly. He’s also written Justice League, Justice Society, Captain America, Hawkman, Iron Man, Terminator, Batman and more.

Sterling is a Tulsa native and OU graduate known for his fantastic characterization in comics. In addition to his landmark run on Supergirl, he has written adventures starring Batman, Batgirl, Flash, Green Lantern and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Celebrate a dozen years of comic book excitement with us as we proudly welcome these world-class writers to Speeding Bullet!

Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, the final graphic novel in the series, comes out this summer — and to celebrate, we’re prepared to rock our faces off.

Join us for Scott Pilgrim-Palooza on July 31! We’ll be holding a Guitar Hero contest during the day, and a concert featuring majestic indie music at night!

Klipspringer to debut Scott Pilgrim song
One of Oklahoma’s finest indie-rock bands, Klipspringer, will perform live at Speeding Bullet as the main event at Scott Pilgrim-Palooza!

The band — who claim Alex Ross and the Vision of the Avengers among their influences — will also be debuting a Scott Pilgrim song they wrote just for our concert! Listen to Klipspringer

Moore-based band Sa7urn will open the show, which begins at 8 pm July 31. Tickets are a measly $2, or you can show your ultimate Scott Pilgrim love with a VIP Ticket.
