Comics veteran Harvey Pekar passed away this week at age 70.

“Our Cancer Year” was one of the first scholarly graphic novels I read. I never knew comics could be so wrenching. Also, “American Splendor” was one of the first autobiographical comics, following Pekar’s everyday life in Cleveland. Visit Speeding Bullet for a selection of some of this great stuff.
