This July, celebrate your comic-book independence with “Team America Racing.”

The high-octane motorcycle team that faces mystery and intrigue alongside their lives as motocross racers will return to comic shops in the one-shot “Team America Racing: Full Throttle Edition” this July 1 from CSN Press.

The comic was written by Speeding Bullet Comics co-owner Matthew L. Price, and is drawn by Josh Hood with colors by Lorenzo Scaramella. Dave Witting at CSN Press is the publisher, and this one-shot features variant covers by comics legends Howard Chaykin (“Star Wars”) and Javier Saltares (“Ghost Rider”).

The one-shot goes on sale July 1, and Speeding Bullet will celebrate with Matt signing on both July 1 and July 4, from 2-4 p.m.!

In the one-shot: When rising motocross star Nicki “Ghost” Randall hits the circuit alongside teammates Buzz and Ram, the thrill of competition quickly turns dangerous. A mysterious saboteur targets racers, while a shadowy figure known as the Highwayman lurks just beyond the finish line, unraveling a conspiracy that threatens the entire sport. Blending breakneck racing action with character-driven drama, this debut captures the spirit of classic ’80s licensed toy comics while delivering sleek, contemporary storytelling. Every jump, crash, and close call builds toward a larger mystery, making this more than just a racing comic; it’s a story about legacy, teamwork, and pushing past your limits. For fans of G.I. Joe, Transformers, and high-speed action, this “Stranger Things meets X Games” one-shot is a fresh start to a franchise built for collectors and readers alike. This issue collects the complete story originally serialized in Comic Shop News issues #2000–2005, along with interviews and special bonus material.

Matt and John Yuan are comic creators, writers, artists, and actors who work extensively in both comics and television.
Fans may recognize them from appearances in shows and films like Observe and Report, Arrested Development, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where they played the Chang brothers in the Marvel series.
The twins began self-publishing creator-owned comic books in 2012 and created titles including Serving Supes, Inspector Oh, Love Town, and more!
The brothers also serve as Deputy Publishers for 1First Comics, where they help to continue the legacy of one of indie comics’ longest-tenured publishers.

We are bringing Oklahoma comic creator Don Rosencrans and Oklahoma poet Joshua Walker to the shop as part of our 28th anniversary celebration on June 13! Speeding Bullet officially began on June 8, 1998, following in the footsteps of the previous Millennium Books and Archives Norman.

Don and Joshua will sign from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 to help us celebrate 28 years of the store!

Don, a longtime Oklahoma independent comic creator, will be signing the third and concluding issue of his comic book “Dreamscape.” The story features high school student Micah, who has been whisked away to the Dreamscape: a surreal place where spirits go when they sleep — or pass away.

Joshua Walker is an Oklahoma City poet, writer, and creator known online as The Last Bard. His work has appeared in Potomac Review, Solarpunk Magazine, Southern Florida Poetry Journal, Kelp Review, Libre, and numerous other publications. He is the author of The Least Weird Person Awake and has built an audience of more than 310,000 followers across social media. His work blends humor, surrealism, speculative fiction, and poetry to explore the strange corners of everyday life.

The Least Weird Person Awake is a surreal narrative poetry collection that follows one increasingly bizarre night through the eyes of a man who may be the only normal person in a profoundly abnormal world.

The latest Norman-based “Ink and Draw” will be held from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 at Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N Porter Ave. in Norman. The event is hosted in conjunction with the Oklahoma Comic Arts Foundation.

All comic-book creators, amateur, professional, and everywhere in-between are welcome. Come to the shop and discuss your comic-book work with other creatives, ask questions or just work on your scripts or drawing!
