Bestselling graphic novels
Tuesday, July 3, 2007
These are the bestselling graphic novels for Speeding Bullet Comics for the first half of 2006. “Marvel Zombies” sells and sells; so far, the appetite for this hasn’t been sated. “300″ has a strong showing on the basis of the film interest.
“Kingdom Come” is a perennial seller for DC, maybe helped by Alex Ross’ “Justice.” “Serenity” moves copies perhaps based on “Buffy” fans checking it out. “Sasquatch” features the name and art of Dead@17’s Josh Howard, as well as a host of other artists, including locals Mario Wytch and Mykal Adyms. “Scott Pilgrim” is a staff favorite.
“The Walking Dead” is Image’s most consistent title, and may be getting added exposure by writer Robert Kirkman’s work on “Marvel Zombies.” The second “DMZ” volume takes a spot on the strength of Brian Wood fans and the Vertigo brand.
“Mouse Guard” has been a sales juggernaut, a sleeper fantasy series that took off beyond anyone’s expectations with a strong story and outstanding art. And “Civil War” contines to sell in trade format, as repercussions ripple throughout the Marvel line.
