Speeding Bullet sets record on Free Comic Book Day
Tuesday, May 5, 2009
The rain didn’t keep you guys away from Free Comic Book Day. In fact, we had a flood of people through our doors Saturday!
There was a line of comics fans waiting to get in when we opened, and the traffic never really let up throughout the day. More people visited Speeding Bullet on Saturday than on any other day in the 11 years we’ve been in business. The crowd even surpassed the number of folks who came to see Geoff Johns sign in our store in 2007!
Special thanks to Colin Warde, who shared his knowledge of authentic Star Wars props with our customers. Colin brought plenty of goodies for show-and-tell, including a hard drive worth of images of items he auctioned over the last two years.
If you couldn’t make it by to see Colin, Speeding Bullet still has copies of Star Trek magazine, which features an article on Colin.
Free Comic Book Day live-blogging

Matt is live-blogging Free Comic Book Day from Speeding Bullet Comics at his Nerdage blog. Check it throughout the day to get Free Comic Book Day highlights. Early in the day, there’s been a huge turnout at Speeding Bullet, and we look forward to seeing more of you throughout the afternoon, and at the Colin Warde “Star Trek” appearance.
See an authentic data card from ‘Star Trek: First Contact’
Friday, May 1, 2009
One of the items that will be in Colin Warde’s show-and-tell bag in our store May 2 is one of the above “data cards” that appeared in the film, “Star Trek: First Contact.”
Colin managed thousands of authentic Star Trek prop and costume auctions on eBay. During the course of his job, he was responsible for identifying each item and how it was used in Star Trek lore.
“One of the things I will talk about is authenticity of items since there were dozens of these data cards. Does mine actually show up on screen? Not in this screencap, but you never know,” Colin said.
Colin will be answering questions and signing Star Trek magazines from 3 to 5 pm on May 2.
