It’s a globetrotting quest for the Valiant Universe’s greatest secrets, from the New York Times bestselling team of Fred Van Lente (Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel Zombies) and Clayton Henry (Uncanny X-Men)!
Obadiah Archer was born and raised to cherish three things above all else: the faith of his parents, the love of his 22 brothers and sisters, and his lifelong mission to defeat the ultimate evildoer. Now, after years of training, Archer has been dispatched to the heart of America’s festering modern day Babylon, aka New York City, to root out and kill this infamous Great Satan.
Unfortunately, dying has never been easy for Archer’s target - the hard-drinking, 10,000-year-old immortal known as Armstrong. Together, this unlikely pair of heroes is about to stumble headfirst into a centuries-old conspiracy that will bring the whole of ancient history crashing down on the modern day Valiant Universe.
And that’s going to mean one Hell of a hangover. Preview it!
Take a Shot at ‘Hawkeye’!
Wednesday, August 1, 2012
The breakout star of this summer’s blockbuster Avengers film and self-made hero Hawkeye fights for justice in his own ongoing title! With ex-Young Avenger Kate Bishop by his side, he’s out to prove himself as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Written by Matt Fraction. Art by David Aja.
The series “Hawkeye” will follow what Clint Barton’s up to when he’s not in an “Avengers” uniform.
“Hawkeye is more about what inspires Clint Barton,” Fraction said at Marvel.com. “We got Clint in Avengers, Secret Avengers, and anywhere else at any given time - but we wanted Hawkeye to be about what Clint does when he’s not at work, about what drives the guy.”
Matt Fraction and David Aja previously worked together on the award-winning Immortal Iron Fist. This is their first team-up since that time.
“It’s great,” asserts Fraction. “[David]’s even nuttier than where we left off, and I remain no bed of roses, so it’s been a blast so far. He’s just blowing the doors off the joint. He’s a monster. He’s the best.”
Aja, meanwhile, says at Marvel.com that Hawkeye has always been a favorite.
“Hawkeye was one my favorite characters when a kid,” he recalls. “One of first Marvel comics I read was Avengers #25, and I [fell] in love with [the] guy; he acted as real person, was a complete jerk, so I suppose I identified with him.”
