“Local” hardcover ships Wednesday
Did you know …. Annette took reference photos all around town for the Norman issue of Local? She ate at The Mont. She was chased out of a motel parking lot. And she spent an entire afternoon snapping shots at Bizzell Library, all as a favor to Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly. It was worth it … the issue set in our hometown was the best of the run, which is now finally available in this hardcover graphic novel!
Local is 12 interconnected short stories, each featuring Megan McKeenan, a young woman who sets out from Portland, Ore., with nothing but a rucksack and a bad case of wanderlust.
These emotional vignettes each represent a year in the life of this young vagabond as she searches for a place to call home, both physically and spiritually. Set in 12 real-life cities across North America (including Norman, OK!), this painstakingly researched and meticulously illustrated volume collects for the first time the critically acclaimed series that writer Brian K. Vaughan called “the sharpest slices of life the medium has ever seen.”
