Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, OK, will welcome author Preston Poulter of the graphic novel “White Lily” for a signing starting at 11 a.m. July 12! “White Lily” features the real-life story of the two highest-scoring female combat pilots in history. The series will examine their battles both in the air and on the ground as they move from civilian flight instructors during the Battle of Moscow, to fighter pilots during the Battle of Stalingrad, to free hunting aces at the Battle of Kursk.

Also the same weekend is the Weekend of Local, from July 11-13. The City of Norman, in partnership with VisitNorman and the Norman Chamber of Commerce, encourages residents to shop and dine at local businesses. We are bringing back Oklahoma comics creators Don Rosencrans and S.A. McClung to sign their new comic books as part of our 27th anniversary celebration on June 28! Speeding Bullet officially began on June 8, 1998, following in the footsteps of the previous Millennium Books and Archives Norman.

Local Comic Shop Day has moved to Sept. 28, as the comic shop celebration re-configures going forward! We will have a limited release of “Gone” #1 from DSTLRY to celebrate Local Comic Shop Day and some other special surprises!

Local Comic Shop Day is an event that calls attention to independent comic book specialty stores, celebrating their role as pop culture fire-starters. On Sept. 28, 2024, stop by Speeding Bullet Comics for specials and exclusive items and join in the celebration.

In connection with Pioneer Library: In this program, we will be discussing “The Good Asian.”
Follow Edison Hark, a haunted, self-loathing Chinese-American detective, as he pursues a brutal killer on the streets of 1936 San Francisco. THE GOOD ASIAN is a noir mystery exploring the first generation of Americans to come of age under an immigration ban-the Chinese-as they’re besieged by rampant murders, abusive police, and a world that seemingly never changes.
Designed for adults, this event starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Batman Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of September of every year and will be landing on September 21st in 2024.
